some important but ultimately very ordinary things that happened to me today
Breakfast:
fried plantains with coconut rice and black coffee. wool socks and George Saunders. i also watched a Smashing Pumpkins video on my phone.
Reading 'Tao Te Ching' in San Francisco:
sitting on a couch in a two-million dollar apartment south of Market. an interior designer drones in the background, measuring for furniture. this was the perfect book to pick up, having been almost entirely swept away by jealousy. this apartment belongs to my contemporary. my friend.
wanting and climbing are natural impulses but ultimately fruitless.
Walking through the new MOMA, struck by a thought:
much of this art is beautiful and some of it is brilliant. but none of it is more than what i have.
