i think the comment was meant neutrally but i chose to take it as a compliment - i've always valued flexibility & deft, wanted to be comfortable in every group or situation. since childhood i've identified - chronologically - as:
mama's boy
extreme nerd
class clown
rocker
skateboarder
tagger
hippy
hyper-competitive ultimate frisbee player
poem writer
anarchist
party boy/party machine (mostly a reaction to how bad the anarchist thing went)
carpenter
letter writer
chess player
distance runner
vegan distance runner
business professional
rock climber
dirtbag
skateboarder again
at each point i believed whole-heartedly, i felt my self was fully represented. today i was wandering along the beach in Oregon, slightly beer-drunk, and wondering what 'me' was painted between these points, what figure my constellation drew.
through all of the above, i think there's been maybe three constants:
1. i like to be physical, to move my body
2. i like to write things down
3. i'm desperately searching for romantic love
there's no conclusion here it's just some thoughts i had why are you reading my journal
